CHRONICLE | Ukraine strikes the Russian economy and seeks new support

30 July 2026 by Ulrich Huygevelde

In this edition of Ukraine: A Week in the War, Ukrainian journalist Tetyana Ogarkova looks back on a week marked by the commemoration of the four-year anniversary of the Bucha massacres, attended by several European leaders—a powerful symbol of support and solidarity.

Tetyana Ogarkova discusses a possible turning point, with Ukrainian strikes now taking on a strategic character by targeting Russian oil infrastructure to weaken the country’s economic power, a strategy that is beginning to show results. Despite modest Ukrainian territorial gains and slowed Russian progression, the bombardments continue. In this context, and faced with defense financing difficulties, Volodymyr Zelensky is seeking new support, notably through agreements reached with Gulf countries.

Guest: Tetyana Ogarkova, Head of the International Department at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center

COLUMN | An obstacle falls with Viktor Orbán’s defeat in Hungary

30 July 2026 by Ulrich Huygevelde

In this edition of Ukraine: A Week in the War, Ukrainian journalist Tetyana Ogarkova reflects on this significant development for Ukraine as well: the defeat of Viktor Orbán in the Hungarian legislative elections, a populist leader with a pronounced pro-Russian stance who had been an obstacle to several European initiatives supporting Ukraine, notably by blocking the 90 billion euro European aid package that Kyiv urgently needs.
