In this public radio session, we continue our encounter with Claude Marthaler, an inspired cyclist whose destiny seems to have become almost inseparable from his bicycle. This “cyclonaut,” as he likes to describe himself, is also a writer, a poet, a philosopher… who, through his tribulations across our good old planet, has become a witness to the world’s beauty as well as its atrocities.


Claude Marthaler shares fragments of his life, filled with humanity and journeys to the four corners of the world, a narrative we will attempt to capture during this upcoming broadcast. We will discuss his recent travels, as well as his latest book “The Call of the Volcano.”

For ten days in early June, the Géopolis team traveled across the West Bank for Transversales, the program on La Première (RTBF).

From Jenin to Hebron, from Nablus to Jerusalem, via Ramallah and Taybeh, we went to meet a Palestine that resists and fights to continue existing—at a time when Israeli pressure is reaching unprecedented levels and settlement expansion is progressing everywhere at a forced march.

The report gives a voice to association leaders who are often under threat, activists, and researchers, but also to ordinary women and men who, despite particularly grueling circumstances, are trying to hold on, organize, and make the world aware of a situation to which they are forced to adapt every day.

Tetyana Ogarkova discusses the latest attacks Ukraine has faced, which have notably affected civilians. She also addresses Kyiv’s diplomatic activism. Faced with media attention shifting to the war in the Middle East and more uncertain international support, Volodymyr Zelensky is indeed intensifying his diplomatic efforts to broaden his backing, as evidenced by his recent visits to Syria and Turkey.
