EXHIBITION – “And I Saw” by Oleksandr Glyadyelov

From 23 January to 23 March 2026, Géopolis presents a major exhibition by Ukrainian photographer Oleksandr Glyadyelov, a leading figure in Ukrainian photography and a direct witness to more than 35 years of Ukrainian history.

From the collapse of the Soviet Union to the ongoing war, Oleksandr Glyadyelov has tirelessly documented the political, social and human upheavals running through his country. His work, exclusively in black and white, stands out for its radical approach: minimalist, direct, profoundly human. Far from the spectacular, his images build a sensitive archive of Ukrainian resistance and a particularly striking visual memory.

Recently presented in Kyiv in the midst of war, this retrospective has generated a strong public and critical response, notably praised by Le Monde. Brussels will be the first international presentation of this exhibition, which will then travel to other European capitals.

This exhibition continues Géopolis’ commitment to Ukraine.

Beyond the photographs, the exhibition will be accompanied by public talks, debates, school visits and educational activities.
